The relation between the intensity of light and the preference to different wavelengths in Musca domestica and Lucilia sp.
نویسنده
چکیده
The phototactic choice of some pairs of colored lights by Musca domestica and Lucilia sp. after a rise in intensity of the non-preferred light in spontaneous responses was studied. In the range of spectrum where no preference in spontaneous responses is noted, the brighter light was chosen after its intensity was increased. It is difficult or even impossible to change the preferences of insects to these lights which are well discriminated in spontaneous reactions after increasing the intensity of the less attractive light.

Photopositive responses of Musca domestica and Lucilia sp. to monochromatic lights.
The specimens Diptera: Musca dornestica and Ludlia sp. adapted to dark were offered two monochromatic lights of different wavelengths. Musca dornestica always preferred the light of a shorter wave out of two monochromatic equiquantum lights. Six color regions presumably qualitatively different were distinguished for this fly: violet-blue, blue, green, yellow-green, orange and red. Lucilia sp. e...

Background and purpose: One of the most popular methods to control the synanthropic flies is using parasitoid wasps. The aim of this study was to estimate the experimental parasitism rates of pupae of Musca domestica, Lucilia sericata, and Sarcophaga heamorrhoidalis by parasitoid wasps, including Nasonia vitripennis, Spalangia nigroaenea, and Pachycrepoideus vindemmiae. متن کاملA revision of the Neotropical species of Lucilia Robineau-Desvoidy (Diptera: Calliphoridae).
A key to 23 species of Neotropical Lucilia, including six new species is given. Information is provided on all known Lucilia species found in the region, including the West Indies, Galápagos Islands, and Central and South America. The following six new species are described based on the examination of over 2700 adult specimens from Central and South America: Lucilia albofusca sp. nov. from sout...
متن کاملStudy of Light Wavelength Dependency in Red-Orange Spectrum on Continuous Culture of Synechocystis sp. PCC6803
In this study, the effect of light wavelength on growth rate and lipid production of Synechocystis was investigated. Continuous cultivation system was used to have uniform cell density and avoid self-shading in order to obtain more precise results. Based on previous studies, red light is more efficient than other colors in the visible spectrum for cultivation of Synechocystis; however, the opti...
